Currency 
South Africa uses the Rand – there are about 17 Rand to the UK£; 13 Rand to the Euro and 12 to the US$.

Electricity:
240 volts, three-pin plug. Adaptors can be purchased at many stores including most supermarkets.
Language:
There are 11 official languages in South Africa, though the conference will be conducted in English and most people you encounter will speak fluent English.

Personal funds:
You can change money at the airport or at a bank in Cape Town. There are automated teller machines (ATMs) located in the airport and many other places in Cape Town.  

Tipping:
Wait staff and specialist guides are usually tipped 10% of the cost of the service.  

Checking luggage:
Please note that if you are checking your luggage for an international flight with one or more connections, it will be necessary to collect your bags at the airport and have them rechecked after proceeding through Customs.
