Travel within Cape Town
Travel from the airport to your hotel
Wherever you are staying you should find travel from the airport to your accommodation relatively easy. From the airport you can either get a metered taxi which should cost around 350 Rand to hotels in the City centre, If you prefer to be fully independent you might choose to rent a car and drive to your hotel. Car rental costs vary but a small car usually works out around 250 Rand per day; be aware that some hotels in central Cape Town charge for parking. There is also a rapid transit system, MyCiti (a bus that travels in special segregated lanes) that goes direct from the airport to the Civic Centre journey time is around 25 minutes and the cost is about 68 Rand – but you may then need to take a taxi to your final destination.

Getting about in Cape Town
There are metered taxis and a rapid transit system (MyCiti) that are very safe to use. For the adventurous there are minibus taxis and regular buses (although we do not recommend you use these unless you are familiar with them already!). It is easy to rent cars and drive in South Africa.

The MyCiti transit system has good coverage in the main tourist areas (see here for details) of the city, you have to buy a card which you can top up at most stations.
